12-year-old girl suicide: Should parents be held responsible?

A 12-year-old girl committed suicide while broadcasting it live on Facebook and has become viral for the past few days.

We had a few talks about it in our classes and our Research teacher asked us: Should parents be held responsible if their teenage children commit suicide.

Yes, parents are to be held responsible if their children, teenager or not, commit suicide.

The primary responsibility of parents is the actions of their children. Parents should always be the first one their children come to if they have problems. Children should always feel free to open up to their parents about everything that is happening in their everyday lives. If parents do not make their children comfortable with them in telling their problems, then the parents are not doing their responsibilities right.

Teenage years are the most curious and adventurous parts of growing up, therefore, it is one of the hardest chapters of our lives. Teenagers experience new things every single day. If there is no one to guide them and give advices, which is the task of their parents, they might break down and give up.

Many teenagers are experiencing emotional depression. At a young age, they are dealing with problems they are not supposed to deal with. At times when they cannot handle the pressure and sadness, they might think of one think that to them is a solution: suicide.

Of course parenting is difficult for new generation parents, as they have to work half the day or more than that. When they get home, they have to do the chores and other tasks they have to finish. But, they should always allot time for their children. Perhaps, eat dinner together and talk about the day. Or maybe, go out once a week for a family bonding. Through this, they will never miss anything on what is happening with the lives of their children.

Killing one’s self is said to be an unforgivable sin. So if possible, we should prevent and take action so that there will be no more cases or attempts of suicide.

Make a change in a good, simple way. Comfort and listen to people who are feeling low. Refrain from giving unnecessary advices. Listen, listen and listen. Make them comfortable so that they can open up freely. Through this, we can take off some of the burden they are carrying and together, we can reduce the number of suicide cases and make a difference.

AdvenTOUR

I woke up with the sound of my annoying alarm, it’s 3 o’clock in the morning and I only had a couple hours of sleep. ‘Exhausted’ quickly became ‘Excited’ as I realized today is the day, our Tour 2016.

We waited at Ynares Center for a while and were the last ones to depart as there were some complications on bus arrangements. Nevertheless, we were still thankful and prayed for a safe trip. My seatmate was Daniel and we listened to music until we arrived 3 hours later at Manila Ocean Park, our first itinerary.

Oceanarium featured different species of aquatic animals. The best part was the tunnel, a glass dome where you can pass through as if underwater. It was breath-taking, could stay there all day. Unfortunately, the tour must go on.

The next and my most favorite part of Ocean Park was Trails to Antarctica! It was the first time I saw a real penguin, and I was so happy when the penguin followed me, stopped and smiled for a selfie. We also got to see the Sea Lions, Vincent and Ysabelle, do incredible stunts and learned mind-boggling facts about them.

Manila Ocean Park was a great venue if you want to see absolutely astonishing marine life, at the same time learning all about it.

The journey to our next destination, Enchanted Kingdom was fast. We were the first ones to arrive there from our school. We did not want to waste any minute while we’re there, so we changed to our section shirts, alighted, took pictures with Sir Baguinon and then went inside to start our magical experience.

Our first ride was the EKstreme Tower, it made me lose my fear because it takes you 150 feet above ground and drops you really fast in only 2 seconds. It prepared me for all the extreme rides I’m about to encounter for the second time.

We rode the Anchor’s Away next, but I did not really enjoy it since I was separated from my classmates. The next one is the Air Race, airplanes revolving and spinning upside down. I was relieved of all the stress and anger as I shouted it all during the ride.

Then, the most exciting and the main highlight of this year’s Tour for me, Space Shuttle. Together with, Daniel, Kathleen, Cloei, Arianna, Rienne, Lindssy, Grace, Amalia, Jara, Carlo, Mya, Timothy, Shella and Paula, we rode the toughest ride there is. My first time last year, I closed my eyes shut and held the seatbelt tight, but this time I did not only opened my eyes the whole time, but I also waved my hands in the air, shouting to the top of my lungs. It was amazing!

After that, we rode the Air Race again and went back to the bus because it’s already time. I listened to music on the way home but I did not fall asleep, perhaps it was the adrenaline rush still going on inside me.

It was truly a memorable experience, even though we only had limited time and spent most of it falling in lengthy lines, I enjoyed every second of it.

To sum it up, this year’s tour is definitely one of the most unforgettable day of my life!

KwenTOUR

New Year, New Beginnings

It’s fun to try something new.

Hello everyone, kung may magbabasa man nito. Hahaha! This is my first post, and I made this blog so I can publish my works and thoughts. Plus, it’s one of my new year’s resolutions para naman may paglabasan ako ng mga naiisip kong mga bagay bagay and para madelete ko na rin siguro yung sandamakmak na notes sa phone ko.

I’m a Campus Journalist– somehow good in writing articles but my main category is Copyreading and Headline Writing. So sa tingin ko rin naman makakatulong tong paggawa ko ng blog para mas maenhance yung skills ko in writing articles.

I will try to post as much as I can, but mostly yung mga post ko puro kadramahan lang. I can write in English or Filipino and I accept requests para na rin may masulat ako kahit papano.

So, yun lang muna. Sana maging successful tong blog ko. Thank you!
